This video by Ernest Marcinko is about his journey to create an AI that can play Cookie Clicker for him.
Initially, he tried training a neural network by recording his own actions, but this failed. He then switched to a method where the AI predicts the next move, such as buying a building or upgrading. This approach worked better, but he wanted the AI to interact with the game more visually.
Ernest created a visual representation of the AI in the game world called "Big Brain" that can shoot lasers at cookies and buildings. A second AI called "Small Brain" was created to control the laser.
To improve the accuracy of "Small Brain," he used a genetic algorithm that allowed the AI to evolve and improve its ability to hit targets. After many trials and errors, he finally succeeded in creating an AI that could play Cookie Clicker, freeing him from the game.
